Tracie Bryant (202-833-0009) April 26, 2008 Partnership for Prevention commends Senators Murkowski and Murray on introducing the Infant Immunization Improvement Act Partnership for Prevention today commends Senators Murkowski and Murray for their dedication to increasing rates of childhood immunizations. The Infant Immunization Improvement Act (S.2911) provides funds for coordination of immunizations at Women, Infant and Children (WIC) clinics and authorizes and funds age appropriate immunization outreach and awareness campaigns. The legislation would also establish a sense of the Senate for integrating immunization systems with health information technology. Partnership for Prevention provided technical support to Senator Murkowski to develop legislation that would increase the use of childhood immunizations – one of the clinical preventive services that, according to Partnership’s National Commission on Prevention Priorities, would make the biggest impact on health and is the most cost effective. In her floor statement introducing the bill, the Senator thanked Partnership for their input on the legislation. Partnership for Prevention is a nationally-recognized nonprofit membership organization of medical and health professionals, academic institutions, voluntary health associations, businesses, government agencies and other groups dedicated to advancing policies and practices to prevent disease and improve the health of all Americans. The organization serves as a platform for education and advocacy to a diverse audience of lawmakers, corporations, health policy leaders, the media and the general public. ###
