John M. Clymer, President Partnership for Prevention
| May 29, 2007--The following statement may be attributed to John M. Clymer, President of Partnership for Prevention:
"Senator Obama’s health care plan seems to be headed in the right direction, with its emphasis on prevention. It is crucial that America’s health system invest more in preventing disease. His plan correctly points out we can prevent or delay the onset of many diseases that are leading causes of death. We need to make sure that every American takes advantage of high value preventive services and encourage and support healthful schools, workplaces and communities. These are good investments for America’s future." # # #
May 23, 2007--The following statement may be attributed to John M. Clymer, President of Partnership for Prevention:
"By putting more emphasis on clinical preventive care and prevention in community settings, Senator Clinton's plan seems to be pointing in the direction we need to go. We get what we pay for in health care and we need to start investing more to prevent disease instead of waiting until it occurs to treat it.
"Prevention is a smart investment for the future. Unless we invest in prevention, the U.S. is likely to face higher health-related costs, higher taxes, and lower quality care.
"Community preventive services should be an integral part of health system reform. Many of the greatest opportunities to improve Americans' health and control health care costs are outside of clinical care settings, in schools, workplaces, and our communities, as Senator Clinton points out." # # # Partnership for Prevention is a nonprofit, nonpartisan health policy organization.
