US Preventive Services Task Force Recommendation The USPSTF recommends screening to detect amblyopia, strabismus, and defects in visual acuity in children younger than age 5 years. Rating: "B" Recommendation FACTS: - About 3% of preschoolers have visual impairments,1 a portion of which would remain undetected at school age without screening.
- Screening and treatment are inexpensive and improve quality of life.
