U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Recommendation The USPSTF recommends screening for type 2 diabetes in adults with hypertension or hyperlipidemia. Rating: "B" Recommendation. FACTS - Diabetes affects a substantial number of U.S. adults: on the basis of NHANES 1999-2000, a total of 8.3% of people age 20 or older or nearly 17 million people had either diagnosed or undiagnosed diabetes. This percent increased to 19.2% for people age 60 and older.1
- Non-Hispanic blacks and Mexican Americans have a disproportionately high prevalence of diabetes compared with non-Hispanic whites.1
